यथा यथा समीपं स हनुमानुपसर्पति ।
तथा तथा रावणं सा तं सीता परिशङ्कते ।

Yathā yathā samīpaṃ sa Hanumānupasarpati । Tathā tathā Rāvaṇaṃ sā taṃ Sītā pariśaṅkate । । ॥5-34-9॥
Translation
The closer Hanuman approached, the more Sita suspected him to be that Ravana alone.
हिंदी अनुवाद
ज्यों-ज्यों हनुमान उनके समीप आते गए, त्यों-त्यों सीता को यह शंका होने लगी कि यह (वेष बदलकर आया) रावण ही है।
English Commentary
This verse masterfully depicts PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Despite the comforting words spoken earlier, the physical trigger of a stranger approaching activates Sita's survival instinct. The correlation is direct: the closer he gets, the higher her suspicion rises. She has been deceived by disguise before (in Janasthana), so her mind defaults to the worst-case scenario—that this is another of Ravana’s illusions (Maya). It shows that emotional trust does not immediately erase instinctual fear.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्लोक सीता जी की मनोवैज्ञानिक स्थिति (Psychological Trauma) का बहुत ही यथार्थ चित्रण है। रावण पहले भी साधु के वेश में उन्हें छल चुका था। इसलिए, जैसे ही हनुमान पास आए, सीता का पुराना घाव हरा हो गया। "यथा यथा... तथा तथा" (जैसे-जैसे... वैसे-वैसे) का प्रयोग उनकी बढ़ती हुई धड़कनों और घबराहट को दर्शाता है। लंका में रहने के कारण उनका विश्वास इतना खंडित हो चुका है कि वे किसी भी अजनबी पर भरोसा करने में असमर्थ हैं। यह अति-सतर्कता (hyper-vigilance) भय का लक्षण है।
