तां तु रामकथां श्रुत्वा वैदेही वानरार्षभात् ।
उवाच वचनं सान्त्वमिदं मधुरया गिरा ।

Tam tu ramakatham shrutva vaidehi vanararshabhat |
Uvacha vachanam santvamidam madhuraya gira ॥5-35-1॥
Translation
Hearing that story of Rama from the best among Vanaras (Hanuman), Vaidehi (Sita) spoke these soothing words to him with a sweet voice.

उस वानरश्रेष्ठ (हनुमान) के मुख से राम की कथा सुनकर, वैदेही (सीता) ने मधुर वाणी में उनसे ये सांत्वना पूर्ण वचन कहे।
English Commentary

यहाँ से पैंतीसवां सर्ग (Sarga 35) प्रारंभ होता है। राम की कथा ('रामकथा') सुनने के बाद सीता जी का हृदय पिघल गया है। जो सीता अभी तक संदेह में थीं, अब राम का नाम और गुणानुवाद सुनकर 'मधुरया गिरा' (मधुर वाणी) में बोलने लगीं। यह राम-कथा का प्रभाव है जो शोकग्रस्त हृदय में भी मिठास घोल देती है। 'सान्त्वम्' (सांत्वना पूर्ण/सौम्य) शब्द बताता है कि अब सीता जी का व्यवहार हनुमान के प्रति कठोर नहीं, बल्कि कोमल और आत्मीय हो गया है।
