भ्राता च तस्य द्वैमात्रः सौमित्रिरपराजितः ।
अनुरागेण रूपेण गुणैश्चैव तथाविधः ।

Bhrātā ca tasya dvaimātraḥ saumitriraparājitaḥ |
Anurāgeṇa rūpeṇa guṇaiścaiva tathāvidhaḥ ॥5-35-22॥
Translation
His brother, born of a different mother, the son of Sumitra—Lakshmana—is an invincible warrior. In affection, beauty, and qualities, he is exactly like Rama.

उनके सौतेले भाई (द्वैमात्रः), सुमित्रा के पुत्र (लक्ष्मण), जो अपराजित योद्धा हैं, वे भी अनुराग (प्रेम), रूप और गुणों में उन्हीं (राम) के समान हैं।
English Commentary
No description of Rama is complete without Lakshmana. Hanuman introduces him as Dvaimatra (son of a second mother) and Saumitri (son of Sumitra), yet emphasizes that he is a mirror image of Rama in Rupa (beauty) and Guna (qualities). The title Aparajita (undefeated/invincible) is crucial here; it assures Sita that Rama is supported by a warrior of equal caliber. The phrase Anuragena... tathavidhah implies that Lakshmana shares the same depth of affection for Sita and Rama, serving as their devoted guardian.
