वयं तु हरिराजं तं सुग्रीवं सत्यसङ्गरम् ।
परिचर्यास्महे राज्यात् पूर्वजेनावरोपितम् ।
।
॥५-३५-२६॥
Vayaṃ tu harirājaṃ taṃ sugrīvaṃ satyasaṅgaram |
paricaryāsmahe rājyāt pūrvajenāvaropitam ॥5-35-26॥
Translation
We, however, serve that King of Monkeys, Sugriva, who is true to his promise, even though he has been deposed from the kingdom by his elder brother.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हम लोग उस वानरराज सुग्रीव की सेवा करते हैं, जो सत्य प्रतिज्ञा वाले हैं, यद्यपि उन्हें उनके बड़े भाई ने राज्य से निष्कासित कर दिया है।
English Commentary
Here, Hanuman formally introduces his allegiance. He states that he and his companions serve Sugriva. Crucially, he describes Sugriva as satyasaṅgaram (one who is true to his word or promise). This is a vital piece of information for Sita, assuring her that Rama has allied with a righteous individual, not an opportunist. Even though Sugriva was exiled and stripped of his power by his elder brother, his followers remained loyal to him due to his character. Hanuman is establishing the moral legitimacy of the Vanara alliance.

हनुमान जी यहाँ अपना परिचय सुग्रीव के सेवक के रूप में देते हैं। वह सुग्रीव के चरित्र की एक बहुत बड़ी विशेषता बताते हैं - 'सत्यसङ्गरम्' (सत्य प्रतिज्ञा वाला)। माता सीता के मन में यह विश्वास जगाने के लिए यह आवश्यक था कि राम ने जिनके साथ मित्रता की है, वह धोखेबाज नहीं हैं। यद्यपि सुग्रीव उस समय राजा नहीं थे और राज्यभ्रष्ट थे, फिर भी हनुमान और अन्य वानर उनकी सेवा उनके नैतिक गुणों और सत्यवादिता के कारण करते थे। यह श्लोक वफादारी और सुग्रीव की विश्वसनीयता को प्रमाणित करता है।
