सहितौ रामसुग्रीवावुभावकुरुतां तदा ।
समयं वालिनं हन्तुं तव चान्वेषणं तथा ।

Sahitau rāmasugrīvāvubhāvakurutāṃ tadā |
samayaṃ vālinaṃ hantuṃ tava cānveṣaṇaṃ tathā ॥5-35-49॥
Translation
Then, united together, both Rama and Sugriva made a covenant: to kill Vali (on Rama's part) and to search for you (on Sugriva's part).

तदनन्तर, एक साथ मिलकर राम और सुग्रीव ने एक समझौता (प्रतिज्ञा) किया। राम ने वाली को मारने का वचन दिया और सुग्रीव ने आपकी खोज करने का।
English Commentary
Hanuman explains the foundational pact (samayam) of the alliance. It was a reciprocal agreement based on shared needs. Rama promised to eliminate the formidable Vali, and in return, Sugriva pledged his resources to search for Sita.
