रामसुग्रीवयोरैक्यं देव्येवं समजायत ।
हनुममन्तं च मां विद्धि तयोर्दूतमिहागतम् ।
।
॥५-३५-५२॥
Rāmasugrīvayoraikyaṃ devyevaṃ samajāyata |
hanumamantaṃ ca māṃ viddhi tayordūtamihāgatam ॥5-35-52॥
Translation
O Divine Lady! In this manner, the alliance between Rama and Sugriva was born. Know me as Hanuman, their messenger who has arrived here.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे देवी! इस प्रकार राम और सुग्रीव में एकता (मित्रता) हुई। आप मुझे उन्हीं दोनों का दूत मानिए, जो यहाँ आया है। मेरा नाम हनुमान है।
English Commentary
This is the formal moment of self-introduction within the narrative arc. After explaining the background, Hanuman connects himself to it. He summarizes: 'This is how the unity (aikyam) came to be.' He then explicitly names himself—'Know me as Hanuman'—and defines his role as tayordūtam (messenger of them both). By claiming to represent both Rama and the Monkey King, he carries the weight of dual authority, solidifying his legitimacy to Sita.

यह एक परिचय श्लोक है जहाँ हनुमान जी औपचारिक रूप से अपना नाम बताते हैं। अब तक उन्होंने केवल घटनाओं का वर्णन किया था। 'ऐक्यं' (एकता/गठबंधन) का इतिहास बताने के बाद, वह कहते हैं—'मां विद्धि' (मुझे जानो/पहचानो)। वह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि वह किसी एक पक्ष के नहीं, बल्कि 'तयोर्दूतम्' (उन दोनों के दूत) हैं। यह सीता को आश्वस्त करता है कि वह राम और सुग्रीव, दोनों के प्रतिनिधि हैं। यहाँ 'हनुमन्तं' नाम का उच्चारण स्वयं में एक शक्ति और विश्वास का संचार करता है।
