तेषां नो विप्रनष्टानां विन्ध्ये पर्वतसत्तमे ।
भृशं शोकपरीतानामहोरात्रगणा गताः ।

Teṣāṃ no vipranaṣṭānāṃ vindhye parvatasattame |
bhṛśaṃ śokaparītānāmahorātragaṇā gatāḥ ॥5-35-57॥
Translation
Lost in the Vindhya, the best of mountains, and filled with deep sorrow, many days and nights passed for us.

विंध्य पर्वत श्रेष्ठ में भटकते हुए और रास्ता भूल जाने के कारण, हम लोग बहुत दुखी हुए और हमारे कई दिन-रात वहीं बीत गए।
English Commentary
The narrative shifts to the hardships faced by the search party. They got lost (vipranaṣṭānāṃ) in the treacherous terrain of the Vindhya mountains. Hanuman admits their failure and emotional state—they were bhṛśaṃ śokaparītānām (overwhelmed with grief/anxiety). The phrase ahorātragaṇā gatāḥ suggests a significant loss of time, which was critical because Sugriva had set a strict deadline. This vulnerability shows the dedication of the troops despite hopelessness.

हनुमान जी अपनी यात्रा की कठिनाइयों का वर्णन करते हैं। विंध्याचल के घने जंगलों में उनकी सेना 'विप्रनष्टानां' (रास्ता भटक गई/खो गई)। समय सीमा (एक मास) बीत रही थी और सफलता नहीं मिल रही थी, जिससे वे 'भृशं शोकपरीतानम्' (अत्यंत शोक से घिर गए)। यह सीता जी को बताता है कि वानरों ने हार नहीं मानी, भले ही उन्हें कितनी भी कठिनाइयों और निराशा का सामना करना पड़ा हो। 'अहोरात्रगणा' (बहुत से दिन-रात) व्यर्थ चले जाने का दर्द यहाँ झलकता है।
