जानन्ती बत दिष्ट्या मां वैदेहि परिपृच्छसि ।
भर्तुः कमलपत्राक्षि संस्थानं लक्ष्मणस्य च ।

॥५-३५-६॥
Jananti bata dishtya mam vaidehi paripricchasi |
Bhartuh kamalapatrakshi samsthanam lakshmanasya cha ॥5-35-6॥
Translation
O lottery-eyed Vaidehi! Fortunately, even though you know it well, you are asking me about the physical form of your husband and Lakshmana.

हे कमल नयन वाली वैदेही! यह हर्ष की बात है कि अपने पति और लक्ष्मण के शारीरिक गठन को (भली-भांति) जानती हुई भी आप मुझसे पूछ रही हैं।
English Commentary
Hanuman acknowledges the irony with grace: Sita knows Rama best, yet she asks a stranger. He interprets this not as a lack of memory, but as a test of his authenticity and a desire to dwell in Rama's praise. Addressing her as 'Kamalapatrakshi' (lotus-eyed), he gently validates her question. He implies, 'I know that you know, but I am honored to recite his glory for you.' It is a moment of shared devotion between the messenger and the beloved.

हनुमान जी यहाँ बहुत ही चतुर और स्नेही उत्तर देते हैं। वे जानते हैं कि पत्नी से बेहतर पति को कौन जान सकता है? फिर भी सीता पूछ रही हैं। हनुमान कहते हैं 'दिष्ट्या' (सौभाग्य से), क्योंकि उन्हें राम का गुणगान करने का अवसर मिल रहा है, जो भक्त के लिए परम आनंद है। 'कमलपत्राक्षि' संबोधन सीता की सुंदरता और उनकी आँखों में छिपी प्रतीक्षा को दर्शाता है। यह दर्शाता है कि सीता जी केवल परीक्षा नहीं ले रहीं, बल्कि राम की चर्चा सुनने का सुख भी लेना चाहती हैं।
