अङ्गदप्रमुखाः सर्वे वेलोपान्तमुपस्थिताः ।
चिन्तां जग्मुः पुनर्भीतास्त्वद्दर्शनसमुत्सुकाः ।

aṅgadapramukhāḥ sarve velopāntamupasthitāḥ |
cintāṃ jagmuḥ punarbhītāstvaddarśanasamutsukāḥ ॥5-35-69॥
Translation
All those (monkeys) led by Angada, having reached the shore, fell into anxiety again, frightened, though they were very eager to see you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अंगद जिनके प्रमुख थे, वे सभी वानर समुद्र तट पर पहुँचकर, आपके दर्शन के लिए अत्यंत उत्सुक होते हुए भी, (समुद्र की विशालता देखकर) पुनः भयभीत होकर चिंता में पड़ गए।
English Commentary
The narrative captures the rollercoaster of emotions experienced by the search party. Having rushed to the shore with high hopes, they are now confronted by the physical reality of the barrier before them: the vast ocean. Despite being 'samutsukah' (very eager) to find Sita, the sight of the impassable sea caused them to fall into anxiety ('chintam jagmuh') and fear ('bhitah') once again. Hanuman presents this vulnerability honestly. It serves to highlight the magnitude of the obstacle separating Sita from her rescuers. By admitting the army's collective fear, Hanuman sets the stage for his own solitary act of valor, distinguishing his capacity to cross the ocean where others hesitated.

यह श्लोक फिर से एक बाधा का वर्णन करता है। यद्यपि वानर सीता के दर्शन के लिए उत्सुक (समुत्सुकाः) थे, परन्तु समुद्र की विशालता ने उन्हें फिर से डरा दिया। 'पुनर्भीताः' (पुनः भयभीत) शब्द उस मनोवैज्ञानिक उतार-चढ़ाव को दर्शाता है जिससे वानर दल गुजर रहा था—पहले असफलता की निराशा, फिर सम्पाति से मिलकर खुशी, और अब समुद्र को देखकर फिर से लाचारी। यह यथार्थवादी चित्रण है। हनुमान जी यह बता रहे हैं कि लंका तक पहुँचाना कोई सरल कार्य नहीं था। सौ योजन चौड़े समुद्र ने पूरी सेना की गति को रोक दिया था। यह पृष्ठभूमि हनुमान के पराक्रम की भूमिका तैयार करती है, क्योंकि जब सब डर गए, तब केवल हनुमान ही आगे आए।
