रामः कमलपत्राक्षः सर्वसत्त्वमनोहरः ।
रूपदाक्षिण्यसम्पन्नः प्रसूतो जनकात्मजे ।

Ramah kamalapatrakshah sarvasattvamanoharah |
Rupadakshinyasampannah prasuto janakatmaje ॥5-35-8॥
Translation
O daughter of Janaka! Rama has eyes like lotus petals and steals the hearts of all living beings. He was born endowed with beauty and generosity/skill.

हे जनकनन्दिनी! राम कमल की पंखुड़ी के समान नेत्रों वाले और समस्त प्राणियों के मन को हरने वाले हैं। वे रूप (सौंदर्य) और दाक्षिण्य (उदारता/कौशल) से संपन्न होकर जन्मे हैं।
English Commentary
The description begins with the eyes, the window to the soul—lotus-like, signifying purity and beauty. Hanuman describes Rama as 'Sarvasattvamanoharah', universally charismatic, loved by all beings. The combination of 'Rupa' (physical beauty) and 'Dakshinya' (courtesy/skill/generosity) paints Rama as the perfect man, possessing both outer appeal and inner grace. This holistic description reassures Sita that the hardships of the forest have not diminished his divine aura.

राम का प्रथम लक्षण उनके 'कमलपत्राक्ष' (कमल नयन) होना है, जो दिव्यता और करुणा का प्रतीक है। 'सर्वसत्त्वमनोहरः' का अर्थ है कि केवल मनुष्य ही नहीं, पशु-पक्षी भी उनसे प्रेम करते हैं। हनुमान जी 'रूप' (बाहरी सुंदरता) और 'दाक्षिण्य' (व्यवहार कुशलता/उदारता) दोनों का उल्लेख करते हैं। 'जनकात्मजे' संबोधन सीता को उनके पिता जनक की याद दिलाता है, जो स्वयं एक ज्ञानी थे, यह संकेत करते हुए कि सीता स्वयं इन गुणों की पारखी हैं।
