स च देवर्षिभिर्दिष्टः पिता मम महाकपिः ।
तीर्थे नदीपतेः पुण्ये शम्बसादनमुद्धरत् ।

sa ca devarṣibhirdiṣṭaḥ pitā mama mahākapiḥ |
tīrthe nadīpateḥ puṇye śambasādanamuddharat ॥5-35-81॥
Translation
Commanded by the celestial sages, that great monkey (my father) destroyed the demon Shambasadana at the holy pilgrimage site of the Lord of Rivers (Ocean).

देवर्षियों द्वारा आज्ञा दिए जाने पर, उन महाकपि (मेरे पिता) ने नदी-पति (समुद्र) के उस पुण्य तीर्थ पर शम्बसादन (नामक राक्षस) का वध किया।
English Commentary
Hanuman recounts a specific heroic deed of his father to establish his pedigree as a slayer of demons. His father, Kesari, killed the demon Shambasadana at a holy site ("tirthe") on the orders of divine sages ("devarshibhir dishtah"). This detail serves two purposes: it highlights his father's martial prowess and proves his alignment with the forces of Dharma (sages and gods). By showing that his father was an exterminator of evil, Hanuman implies that he, too, carries that same righteous gene and capability.

हनुमान जी अपने पिता के पराक्रम का वर्णन करते हैं। केसरी ने 'शम्बसादन' (शम्ब को मारने वाला या शम्बसादन नाम का) राक्षस का वध किया था। यह कार्य उन्होंने अपनी इच्छा से नहीं, अपितु 'देवर्षिभिर्दिष्टः' (देवर्षियों के आदेश से) किया था, जो उनके धर्मपरायण होने का सबूत है। यह घटना 'नदीपतेः तीर्थे' (समुद्र के तीर्थ, संभवतः गोकर्ण तट) पर हुई थी। पिता की वीरता का वर्णन करके हनुमान यह सिद्ध कर रहे हैं कि वे वीरों के रक्त से हैं और राक्षसों का वध करना उनका पैतृक धर्म है।
