तस्याहं हरिणः क्षेत्रे जातो वातेन मैथिलि ।
हनुमानिति विख्यातो लोके स्वेनैव कर्मणा ।

tasyāhaṃ hariṇaḥ kṣetre jāto vātena maithili |
hanumāniti vikhyāto loke svenaiva karmaṇā ॥5-35-82॥
Translation
O Maithili, I was born of the Wind God in the wife of that Vanara. By my own deeds, I am renowned in the world as Hanuman.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे मैथिली! मैं उन्ही वानर (केसरी) की पत्नी (क्षेत्र) में वायुदेव द्वारा उत्पन्न हुआ हूँ। मैं अपने निजी कर्मों से ही लोक में 'हनुमान' नाम से विख्यात हूँ।
English Commentary
Hanuman clarifies his dual parentage. He was born in the "Kshetre" (field/wife) of Kesari but sired "Vatena" (by the Wind God). This explains his extraordinary abilities (like leaping the ocean) which a normal Vanara might not possess. He concludes by stating his identity: "Hanuman." Significantly, he notes he is famous "svenaiva karmana" (by his own deeds). He does not rely solely on his father's name but on his own merit. This serves as a final reassurance to Sita that the monkey standing before her is a proven entity, capable and autonomous.

यह श्लोक हनुमान जी के जन्म का रहस्य खोलता है। वे 'क्षेत्रज' पुत्र हैं—अर्थात केसरी की पत्नी (अंजना) के गर्भ (क्षेत्र) से, परन्तु 'वातेन' (वायु देवता द्वारा) उत्पन्न हुए हैं। इससे उनमें वानर और देव दोनों के गुण हैं। अंत में वे कहते हैं कि वे अपने नाम या कुल से नहीं, बल्कि 'स्वेनैव कर्मणा' (अपने स्वयं के कर्मों से) विख्यात हैं। यह आत्मविश्वास और विनम्रता का अद्भुत मिश्रण है। वे सीता को बता रहे हैं कि उनके पास जो शक्ति है, वह दैवीय है, और उनकी निष्ठा कर्म-आधारित है।
