Athavā śaktimantau tau surāṇāmapi nigrahe ।
Mamaiva tu na duḥkhānāmasti manye viparyayaḥ ।

Translation
Or rather, they are capable of restraining even the gods. But I think there is no end to my sorrows; it is my own destiny.

अथवा, वे दोनों (राम और लक्ष्मण) देवताओं को भी नियंत्रित करने (निग्रह) में समर्थ हैं। परन्तु मुझे लगता है कि मेरे ही दुखों का अंत (विपर्यय) नहीं है।
English Commentary
Sita corrects her previous thought immediately. She clarifies that she does not doubt their power; they can suppress even the gods (surāṇāmapi nigrahe). The delay in her rescue, she concludes, must be due to her own misfortune. Mamaiva tu na duḥkhānāmasti... viparyayaḥ—"There is no reversal of my sorrows." This reflects the classical Indian philosophical acceptance of karma and destiny, where the devotee blames their own fate rather than the capability of the Lord.

पिछले श्लोक के आक्रोश के बाद, सीता जी आत्म-ग्लानि और भाग्यवादी दृष्टिकोण अपनाती हैं। वे स्वीकार करती हैं कि कमी राम की शक्ति में नहीं है—वे तो देवताओं को भी हरा सकते हैं ('सुराणामपि निग्रहे')। अतः यदि वे नहीं आए हैं, तो यह राम की असमर्थता नहीं, बल्कि सीता का अपना दुर्भाग्य है। 'ममैव तु' (मेरे ही)—यह वाक्यांश उनकी गहरी निराशा और अपने कर्मों/भाग्य को दोष देने की वृत्ति को दर्शाता है।
