कच्चिदाशास्ति देवानां प्रसादं पार्थिवात्मजः ।
कच्चित् पुरुषकारं च दैवं च प्रतिपद्यते ।

Kaccidāśāsti devānāṃ prasādaṃ pārthivātmajaḥ । Kaccit puruṣakāraṃ ca daivaṃ ca pratipadyate । । ॥5-36-19॥
Translation
Does the Prince hope for the grace of the gods? Does he rely upon both human effort and divine destiny?
हिंदी अनुवाद
क्या राजकुमार (पार्थिवात्मज) देवताओं की कृपा (प्रसाद) की आशा रखते हैं? और क्या वे पुरुषार्थ (मानवीय प्रयत्न) और दैव (भाग्य) दोनों का ही आश्रय लेते हैं?
English Commentary
Sita probes Rama's philosophical and strategic balance. In the Vedic worldview, success requires the confluence of puruṣakāra (human effort/action) and daiva (destiny/divine grace). Sita asks if Rama, the pārthivātmaja (son of the king), acknowledges both. Reliance solely on fate leads to lethargy, while reliance solely on egoistic effort can lead to frustration against insurmountable odds. Sita wishes to ensure that Rama has not succumbed to fatalism due to grief, nor arrogance, but is actively courting both the gods' favor and utilizing his own prowess.

भारतीय दर्शन में सफलता के लिए 'पुरुषार्थ' (कड़ी मेहनत) और 'दैव' (भाग्य/ईश्वरीय कृपा) दोनों का संतुलन आवश्यक माना गया है। सीता जी यहाँ राम की मानसिक स्थिति की जाँच कर रही हैं। वे जानती हैं कि केवल रोने से या केवल भाग्य के भरोसे बैठने से कार्य नहीं होगा, और न ही बिना ईश्वरीय कृपा के केवल बल प्रयोग से सफलता मिलेगी। वे चाहती हैं कि राम 'प्रदीप्यते' अर्थात इन दोनों पक्षों को स्वीकार करें और संतुलित दृष्टिकोण अपनाएं। यह एक पत्नी की चिंता है जो अपने पति को निराशा के गर्त में नहीं, बल्कि कर्म के क्षेत्र में देखना चाहती है।
