न चास्य माता न पिता च नान्यः स्नेहाद्विशिष्टो ऽस्ति मया समो वा ।
तावत्त्वहं दूत जिजीविषेयं यावत् प्रवृत्तिं श्रृणुयां प्रियस्य ।
।
॥५-३६-३०॥
Na cāsya mātā na pitā ca nānyaḥ snehādviśiṣṭo 'sti mayā samo vā । Tāvattvahaṃ dūta jijīviṣeyaṃ yāvat pravṛttiṃ śṛṇuyāṃ priyasya । ॥5-36-30॥
Translation
For him, neither mother, nor father, nor anyone else is equal to or dearer than me in affection. O Messenger, I wish to live only as long as I hear the news of my beloved.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उनके (राम के) लिए स्नेह में न माता, न पिता और न कोई अन्य मेरे समान या मुझसे विशिष्ट है। हे दूत! मैं तो बस तब तक ही जीवित रहना चाहती हूँ (जिजीविषेयं) जब तक मैं अपने प्रिय का समाचार सुन रही हूँ।
English Commentary
Sita concludes with a powerful affirmation of their bond and a timeline for her survival. She asserts her primacy in Rama's heart, stating that his affection (sneha) for her surpasses even that for his parents. This is meant to reassure herself and impress upon Hanuman the urgency of the mission. She declares she wishes to live (jijīviṣeyaṃ) only as long as she hears news of Rama. Implicitly, if the news stops or if rescue is delayed beyond hope, she signals she will end her life. It is an ultimatum delivered with love.

यह श्लोक सीता जी के संदेश का निष्कर्ष है। वे आत्मविश्वास के साथ दावा करती हैं कि राम के जीवन में उनका स्थान सर्वोच्च है—माता-पिता से भी ऊपर। यह अहंकार नहीं, बल्कि दांपत्य प्रेम की पराकाष्ठा है। अंत में, वे अपनी जीजीविषा (जीने की इच्छा) का कारण बताती हैं: केवल राम का समाचार सुनना। यह हनुमान जी के लिए संकेत है कि सीता के प्राण केवल 'आशा' के धागे पर लटके हैं, इसलिए राम को शीघ्र आना होगा।
