नित्यं ध्यानपरो रामो नित्यं शोकपरायणः ।
नान्यच्चिन्तयते किञ्चित् स तु कामवशं गतः ।
।
॥५-३६-४३॥
Nityaṃ dhyānaparo rāmo nityaṃ śokaparāyaṇaḥ । Nānyaccintayate kiñcit sa tu kāmavaśaṃ gataḥ । । ॥5-36-43॥
Translation
Rama is constantly immersed in meditation and is ever given over to sorrow. Having come under the sway of love for you, he thinks of nothing else whatsoever.
हिंदी अनुवाद
श्री राम नित्य ध्यानमग्न रहते हैं और सदा शोक में डूबे रहते हैं। आपके प्रेम के वशीभूत होकर वे आपके सिवा अन्य किसी विषय का चिंतन ही नहीं करते।
English Commentary
Hanuman describes Rama's intense state of separation anxiety (Viraha) to Sita. By stating that Rama is 'constantly meditating' (dhyānaparo), Hanuman implies that Rama has withdrawn his senses from the external world to focus entirely on his internal memory of Sita. The phrase kāmavaśaṃ gataḥ in this context signifies the overwhelming power of divine love and longing, rather than mere physical desire. It highlights Rama's single-minded devotion (Ekapatni-vrata), showing that without Sita, his mind refuses to engage with any other aspect of existence, rendering him perpetually sorrowful.

हनुमान जी यहाँ माता सीता को प्रभु श्री राम की विरह-दशा का वर्णन सुना रहे हैं। 'नित्यं ध्यानपरो' का अर्थ है कि उनका मन एक क्षण के लिए भी सीता जी से हटता नहीं है। वे बाह्य जगत से विमुख होकर केवल सीता के ध्यान में लीन हैं। 'कामवशं गतः' का अर्थ यहाँ कामुकता नहीं, अपितु पत्नी के प्रति प्रगाढ़ प्रेम और वियोग की तीव्रता है। एक क्षत्रिय वीर का इस प्रकार केवल एक ही विचार में लीन रहना उनके अनन्य प्रेम का प्रमाण है। वे राज-काज या अन्य कर्तव्यों को भूलकर केवल वियोग की अग्नि में तप रहे हैं, जो यह दर्शाता है कि सीता ही उनके जीवन का केंद्र हैं।
