अमृतं विषसंसृष्टं त्वया वानरभाषितम् ।
यच्च नान्यमना रामो यच्च शोकपरायणः ।
।
॥५-३७-२॥
Amṛtaṃ viṣasaṃsṛṣṭaṃ tvayā vānarabhāṣitam । Yacca nānyamanā rāmo yacca śokaparāyaṇaḥ । । ॥5-37-2॥
Translation
O Vanara, the words spoken by you are like nectar mixed with poison. The fact that Rama has his mind on no one else is nectar, but that he is overwhelmed by grief is poison.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानर! तुमने जो कहा कि राम मेरे सिवा किसी और का विचार नहीं करते और वे शोक में डूबे हैं—यह वचन विष मिश्रित अमृत के समान है।
English Commentary
This is a quintessential verse describing the duality of love in separation. Sita uses the powerful metaphor of "nectar mixed with poison" (amṛtaṃ viṣasaṃsṛṣṭaṃ). The news of Rama’s undivided love and fidelity is the life-giving nectar that validates her existence and suffering. However, the news of his pain and despair is the poison that torments her soul. It perfectly encapsulates the bittersweet nature of her situation—she is saved by his love but destroyed by his sorrow.

यह श्लोक रामायण के प्रसिद्ध श्लोकों में से एक है। सीता जी अपनी मिश्रित भावनाओं को 'अमृतं विषसंसृष्टं' (विष मिला हुआ अमृत) कहती हैं। राम का अनन्य प्रेम 'अमृत' है जो जीवन देता है, लेकिन राम का दुःख 'विष' है जो प्राण हर लेता है। यह विरोधाभास प्रेम की प्रकृति को दर्शाता है—प्रिया के प्रेम का ज्ञान सुखद है, किन्तु प्रेमी की पीड़ा असहनीय है। सीता की यह उक्ति उनकी गहन संवेदनशीलता और राम के प्रति उनके तादात्म्य को सिद्ध करती है।
