सीताया वचनं श्रुत्वा हनुमान् मारुतात्मजः ।
चिन्तयामास लक्ष्मीवान् नवं परिभवं कृतम् ।
।
॥५-३७-३०॥
Sītāyā vacanaṃ śrutvā hanumān mārutātmajaḥ । Cintayāmāsa lakṣmīvān navaṃ paribhavaṃ kṛtam । । ॥5-37-30॥
Translation
Hearing Sita's words, the glorious Hanuman, son of the Wind God, thought that a new insult (disregard of his strength) had been offered to him.

सीता के वचन सुनकर लक्ष्मीवान (शोभायमान) मारुतिनंदन हनुमान ने सोचा कि यह मेरा 'नया तिरस्कार' (परिभव) हुआ है।
English Commentary
Hanuman interprets Sita's doubt as a paribhavam—an insult or slight to his prowess. As a warrior of immense strength, being judged solely by his disguised appearance stings his martial pride. The term navam (new) suggests a series of underestimations he has faced. This internal reaction is crucial as it prompts the dramatic revelation of his true, gigantic form (Vishwaroopa) to prove his capability to Sita.

हनुमान जी को सीता की शंका पर थोड़ी ठेस लगती है। एक योद्धा के लिए उसकी शक्ति पर संदेह किया जाना 'परिभव' (तिरस्कार/अपमान) समान होता है। 'नवं' (नया) इसलिए क्योंकि लंका में राक्षसों ने उन्हें तुच्छ समझा था, और अब माता सीता भी उन्हें केवल एक छोटा वानर समझ रही हैं। यह हनुमान के स्वाभिमान को जगाता है, जिससे वे अपना वास्तविक रूप प्रकट करने का निर्णय लेते हैं।
