Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
विधिर्नूनमसंहार्थः प्राणिनां प्लवगोत्तम ।
सौमित्रिं मां च रामं च व्यसनैः पश्य मोहितान् ।
।
॥५-३७-४॥
Vidhirnūnamasaṃhārthaḥ prāṇināṃ plavagottama । Saumitriṃ māṃ ca rāmaṃ ca vyasanaiḥ paśya mohitān । । ॥5-37-4॥
Translation
O best of monkeys, Destiny is indeed unavoidable for living beings. Behold how Sumitra's son (Lakshmana), myself, and Rama are all overwhelmed by calamities.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानरश्रेष्ठ! प्राणियों के भाग्य (विधि) का विधान निश्चित रूप से अनिवार्य (जिसे टाला न जा सके) है। देखो, सुमित्राकुमार लक्ष्मण, मैं और राम—हम सब कैसे विपत्तियों से मोहित (ग्रस्त) हो गए हैं।
English Commentary
Continuing her reflection on Fate, Sita asserts that the decrees of Destiny (Vidhi) cannot be counteracted (asaṃhārthaḥ). She uses herself, Rama, and Lakshmana as prime examples. If virtue and power could strictly prevent suffering, they would not be in this state. By asking Hanuman to "behold" their condition, she acknowledges that they are currently overwhelmed by circumstances beyond their control. This implies that their suffering is not a flaw in their character, but the play of an unavoidable cosmic force.

सीता जी 'विधि' (भाग्य) को 'असंहार्थ' (जिसका निवारण न हो सके) बताती हैं। वे उदाहरण देती हैं कि यदि कर्म/भाग्य प्रबल न होता, तो राम जैसे पराक्रमी, लक्ष्मण जैसे बुद्धिमान और सीता जैसी धर्मपरायण स्त्री को यह कष्ट क्यों भोगना पड़ता? 'मोहितान्' का अर्थ है कि विपत्ति ने उनकी बुद्धि और विवेक को भी मानो ढक लिया है, जिससे वे संकटों के जाल में फँस गए हैं। यह दीनता नहीं, बल्कि यथार्थ का स्वीकार है।
