पतिता सागरे चाहं तिमिनक्रझषाकुले ।
भवेयमाशु विवशा यादसामन्नमुत्तमम् ।

Patitā sāgare cāhaṃ timinakrajhaṣākule । Bhaveyamāśu vivaśā yādasāmannamuttamam । । ॥5-37-44॥
Translation
"Falling into the ocean filled with whales, crocodiles, and large fish, I would helplessly and quickly become excellent food for the aquatic creatures."

"तिमिंगिल (व्हेल), मगरमच्छ और मछलियों से भरे हुए सागर में गिरकर, मैं विवश होकर शीघ्र ही जलचर जीवों का उत्तम भोजन बन जाऊँगी।"
English Commentary
Sita presents a vividly realistic worst-case scenario. She acknowledges that the ocean is not merely a body of water but a habitat for predatory creatures like Timingilas (whales) and crocodiles. The term 'vivasha' (helpless) underscores her vulnerability; if she falls, she has no means of self-defense. This indicates that Sita is not making decisions based on emotion but is conducting a cold, rational risk assessment of the physical dangers involved in the rescue attempt.

सीता जी यहाँ अत्यंत यथार्थवादी दृष्टिकोण प्रस्तुत कर रही हैं। वे जानती हैं कि समुद्र केवल जल का विस्तार नहीं है, बल्कि हिंसक जीवों ('यादस') का घर है। 'विवशा' शब्द उनकी असहायता को दर्शाता है—यदि वे हनुमान की पीठ से गिर गईं, तो उनके पास बचने का कोई साधन नहीं होगा। यह श्लोक दर्शाता है कि सीता जी भावुकता में बहकर कोई निर्णय नहीं ले रहीं, बल्कि वे संभावित खतरों का सूक्ष्मता से विश्लेषण कर रही हैं।
