न च शक्ष्ये त्वया सार्धं गन्तुं शत्रुविनाशन ।
कलत्रवति सन्देहस्त्वय्यपि स्यादसंशयः ।

॥५-३७-४५॥
Na ca śakṣye tvayā sārdhaṃ gantuṃ śatruvināśana । Kalatravati sandehastvayyapi syādasaṃśayaḥ । । ॥5-37-45॥
Translation
"O destroyer of enemies, I will not be able to go with you. There is no doubt that if you are carrying a woman (a burden/dependent), you too will be placed in a perilous situation."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे शत्रुनाशन! मैं तुम्हारे साथ जाने में समर्थ नहीं हो सकूँगी। साथ में स्त्री (भार/कलत्र) होने पर तुम्हारे लिए भी (युद्ध में) संकट उत्पन्न हो जाएगा, इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है।"
English Commentary
Sita speaks like a strategist here. She identifies herself as a 'Kalatra'—a dependent who needs protection. She understands that in aerial combat, mobility is key. If Hanuman has to protect her while fighting, his combat effectiveness will be compromised. She refuses to be the liability that endangers her rescuer. This refusal is rooted in her concern for Hanuman's safety rather than her own unwillingness to leave.

सीता जी यहाँ एक रणनीतिकार की भांति सोच रही हैं। 'कलत्र' शब्द का अर्थ है 'पत्नी' या 'रक्षणीय स्त्री'। वे समझती हैं कि युद्ध में गतिशीलता (mobility) सबसे महत्वपूर्ण है। यदि हनुमान जी को उन्हें सुरक्षित भी रखना पड़ा और युद्ध भी करना पड़ा, तो उनका ध्यान बंट जाएगा। वे नहीं चाहतीं कि उनकी सुरक्षा के कारण हनुमान जी के प्राण संकट में पड़ें। यह उनके त्याग और हनुमान के प्रति उनकी चिंता को दर्शाता है।
