युद्ध्यमानस्य रक्षोभिस्तव तैः क्रूरकर्मभिः ।
प्रपतेयं हि ते पृष्ठाद् भयार्ता कपिसत्तम ।
।
॥५-३७-४९॥
Yuddhyamānasya rakṣobhistava taiḥ krūrakarmabhiḥ । Prapateyaṃ hi te pṛṣṭhād bhayārtā kapisattama । । ॥5-37-49॥
Translation
"O best of monkeys, while you are fighting with those Rakshasas of cruel deeds, I, stricken with fear, might indeed fall from your back."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे कपिश्रेष्ठ! जब तुम उन क्रूर कर्म करने वाले राक्षसों के साथ युद्ध कर रहे होगे, तब मैं भयभीत होकर तुम्हारी पीठ से गिर सकती हूँ।"
English Commentary
Describing the chaos of battle, Sita envisions the cruel attacks of the Rakshasas. Amidst the violent maneuvers of aerial dogfighting, maintaining her grip on Hanuman's back would be nearly impossible. She candidly admits to being 'bhayarta' (stricken with fear). She acknowledges her own physical and emotional limits, fearing that the terror of the combat would cause her to lose consciousness or her grip, leading to a fatal fall.

युद्ध की विभीषिका का वर्णन करते हुए सीता जी कहती हैं कि राक्षसों के आक्रमण अत्यंत क्रूर होंगे। ऐसे भयानक दृश्य और युद्ध की हलचल (maneuvering) के बीच, सीता जी का संतुलन बिगड़ सकता है। 'भयार्ता' (भय से पीड़ित) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है—वे स्वीकार करती हैं कि वे एक कोमल हृदया नारी हैं और युद्ध के उस भीषण स्वरूप को शायद सहन न कर सकें और डर के कारण उनकी पकड़ ढीली पड़ जाए।
