अथ रक्षांसि भीमानि महान्ति बलवन्ति च ।
कथंचित् साम्पराये त्वां जयेयुः कपिसत्तम ।

॥५-३७-५०॥
Atha rakṣāṃsi bhīmāni mahānti balavanti ca । Kathañcit sāmparāye tvāṃ jayeyuḥ kapisattama । । ॥5-37-50॥
Translation
"Furthermore, O best of monkeys, those terrifying, huge, and powerful Rakshasas might somehow defeat you in battle."

"इसके अलावा, वे भयानक, विशालकाय और बलवान राक्षस युद्ध में कदाचित तुम्हें जीत भी सकते हैं, हे वानरश्रेष्ठ।"
English Commentary
Sita avoids the trap of overconfidence. While she respects Hanuman's strength, she acknowledges the uncertainty of war. Using the word 'kathanchit' (somehow/perhaps), she suggests that it is not impossible for a swarm of powerful demons to overwhelm a single warrior, especially one burdened with a passenger. This is sound military logic: never underestimate the enemy or the unpredictability of battle.

सीता जी अति-आत्मविश्वास (overconfidence) से बचती हैं। यद्यपि वे हनुमान के बल को जानती हैं, फिर भी वे युद्ध की अनिश्चितता को स्वीकार करती हैं। 'कथंचित्' (किसी प्रकार/संभवतः) शब्द का प्रयोग कर वे कहती हैं कि शत्रु को कभी कमजोर नहीं समझना चाहिए। यदि हजारों राक्षस एक साथ टूट पड़ें, तो हनुमान जी की पराजय भी संभव है। यह यथार्थवाद (realism) है, अविश्वास नहीं।
