अथवा ऽ ऽदाय रक्षांसि न्यसेयुः संवृते हि माम् ।
यत्र ते नाभिजानीयुर्हरयो नापि राघवौ ।
आरम्भस्तु मदर्थो ऽयं ततस्तव निरर्थकः ।

Athavā ' 'dāya rakṣāṃsi nyaseyuḥ saṃvṛte hi mām । Yatra te nābhijānīyurharayo nāpi rāghavau । Ārambhastu madartho 'yaṃ tatastava nirarthakaḥ । ॥5-37-55॥
Translation
"Or, taking me away, the Rakshasas might hide me in a secret place where neither the monkeys nor the Raghavas could find me. In that case, this entire enterprise undertaken for my sake would become meaningless."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"अथवा (यदि तुम युद्ध में उलझ गए तो) राक्षस मुझे ले जाकर किसी ऐसे गुप्त स्थान पर छिपा देंगे जहाँ न वानर और न ही रघुनंदन (राम-लक्ष्मण) मुझे जान पाएंगे। तब तो मेरे लिए किया गया तुम्हारा यह सारा आरम्भ (प्रयास) निरर्थक हो जाएगा।"
English Commentary
Sita concludes with a strategic foresight regarding 'relocation risk.' If the rescue is attempted and fails, the element of surprise is lost. The Rakshasas would immediately move her to a 'samvrite' (concealed/secret) location. If she becomes untraceable to both the Vanaras and Rama, the war cannot even begin. She argues that the current status quo, while painful, is preferable to a botched rescue that results in her permanent disappearance, rendering the entire mission ('arambhah') futile.

यह अंतिम व्यावहारिक तर्क है—स्थान परिवर्तन का खतरा। यदि हनुमान का प्रयास विफल हुआ, तो रावण सतर्क हो जाएगा। वह सीता को अशोक वाटिका से हटाकर किसी अज्ञात तहखाने या दुर्गम स्थान पर छिपा देगा। फिर राम और वानर सेना उन्हें कभी नहीं ढूंढ पाएगी। वर्तमान में कम से कम उनका स्थान ज्ञात है। एक असफल बचाव अभियान भविष्य की सभी संभावनाओं को नष्ट कर सकता है। इसलिए सीता जी इस जोखिम को उठाने से मना कर देती हैं।
