मयि जीवितमायत्तं राघवस्य महात्मनः ।
भ्रातॄणां च महाबाहो तव राजकुलस्य च ।
।
॥५-३७-५७॥
Mayi jīvitamāyattaṃ rāghavasya mahātmanaḥ । Bhrātṛṇāṃ ca mahābāho tava rājakulasya ca । । ॥5-37-57॥
Translation
"O mighty-armed one, the life of the great-souled Raghava, of his brothers, and of your royal family depends on me."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे महाबाहु! महात्मा राम का, उनके भाइयों (लक्ष्मण, भरत, शत्रुघ्न) का और तुम्हारे वानर राजकुल (सुग्रीव आदि) का भी जीवन मेरे ही अधीन है।"
English Commentary
Sita elucidates the gravity of the situation. She is the linchpin holding two great alliances together. She explains that if the rescue attempt fails and she dies in transit, it will trigger a domino effect of tragedy. Rama would succumb to grief; without him, his brothers would not survive; and without Rama, Sugriva and the Vanara royal family would lose their purpose and likely perish from shame or sorrow. Her refusal to take a risk is an act of preserving the lives of everyone she loves.
हिंदी टीका
सीता जी स्थिति की गंभीरता (Stakes) को समझाती हैं। वे केवल एक व्यक्ति नहीं हैं, बल्कि पूरे रघुवंश और वानर कुल की प्राण-शक्ति हैं। यदि बचाव अभियान में वे समुद्र में गिर जाती हैं या मर जाती हैं, तो राम वियोग में प्राण त्याग देंगे। राम के बिना लक्ष्मण और अन्य भाई नहीं जियेंगे। और यदि राम नहीं रहे, तो सुग्रीव और अंगद भी प्रतिज्ञा पूरी न कर पाने के कारण लज्जा या दुःख से मर जाएंगे। इसलिए वे कोई ऐसा जोखिम नहीं उठाना चाहतीं जिससे सबका विनाश हो जाए।
