एवमुक्ता हनुमता सीता सुरसुतोपमा ।
उवाच वचनं मन्दं बाष्पप्रग्रथिताक्षरम् ।
।
॥५-३८-११॥
evamuktā hanumatā sītā surasutopamā । uvāca vacanaṃ mandaṃ bāṣpapragrathitākṣaram । । ॥5-38-11॥
Translation
"Being thus addressed by Hanuman, Sita, resembling the daughter of a god, spoke words slowly, with syllables choked by tears."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हनुमान के ऐसा कहने पर, देवकन्या के समान सीता ने आंसुओं से रुंधे हुए अक्षरों वाली वाणी में धीरे-धीरे कहा।"
English Commentary
This verse sets the scene for Sita's emotional state. The remembrance of Rama and witnessing Hanuman's loyalty have overwhelmed her. 'Bashpapragrathitaksharam' is a poignant descriptor, meaning her syllables are knotted or choked with tears; she is weeping while speaking, making her voice slow and heavy ('mandam'). 'Surasutopama' (like the daughter of a god) highlights her divine beauty and aura, which remains undiminished even in sorrow. She is now preparing to share a deeply intimate memory from her past.

यह श्लोक सीता जी की मनोदशा का वर्णन करता है। राम का स्मरण और हनुमान की निष्ठा देख उनका हृदय भर आया है। 'बाष्पप्रग्रथिताक्षरम्' एक अत्यंत मार्मिक विशेषण है, जिसका अर्थ है कि उनके शब्द आंसुओं में गुंथे हुए हैं; वे रो रही हैं और बोल रही हैं, जिससे उनकी आवाज़ भारी और धीमी ('मन्दं') हो गई है। 'सुरसुतोपमा' (देवता की पुत्री समान) उनकी दिव्य सुंदरता और आभा को दर्शाता है जो दुख में भी मलिन नहीं हुई है। अब वे अपने अतीत की एक अत्यंत निजी स्मृति साझा करने जा रही हैं।
