ततः सुप्तप्रबुद्धां मां रामस्याङ्कात् समुत्थिताम् ।
वायसः सहसा ऽ ऽगम्य विददार स्तनान्तरे ।

tataḥ suptaprabuddhāṃ māṃ rāmasyāṅkāt samutthitām । vāyasaḥ sahasā ' 'gamya vidadāra stanāntare । ॥5-38-22॥
Translation
"Then, as I woke from sleep and rose from Rama's side, that crow suddenly swooped down and tore at the space between my breasts."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"तदनन्तर, जब मैं नींद से जागी और राम की गोद से उठी (या राम मेरी गोद से उठे), तब उस कौवे ने अचानक आकर मेरी दोनों छातियों के बीच (स्तनान्तरे) घाव कर दिया।"
English Commentary
The violence escalates. The crow attacked 'sahasa' (suddenly) and targeted a highly sensitive area ('stanantare' - between the breasts). This attack was not just physical but a violation of Sita's dignity. The cruelty of the demon (Jayanta) is laid bare. Sita details this physical pain to trigger the memory of the rage Rama felt upon witnessing this specific injury.

हिंसा का स्तर बढ़ जाता है। कौवे ने 'सहसा' (अचानक) आक्रमण किया और एक अत्यंत कोमल अंग ('स्तनान्तरे') को निशाना बनाया। यह हमला केवल शारीरिक नहीं था, बल्कि सीता की गरिमा पर भी आघात था। राक्षस (जयंत) की क्रूरता यहाँ स्पष्ट होती है। सीता जी इस शारीरिक पीड़ा का वर्णन इसलिए करती हैं ताकि राम को उस क्रोध का स्मरण हो जो उन्हें यह देखकर आया था।
