Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
केन ते नागनासोरु विक्षतं वै स्तनान्तरम् ।
कः क्रीडति सरोषेण पञ्चवक्त्रेण भोगिना ।

॥५-३८-२६॥
kena te nāganāsoru vikṣataṃ vai stanāntaram । kaḥ krīḍati saroṣeṇa pañcavaktreṇa bhoginā । ॥5-38-26॥
Translation
"O lady with thighs like the trunk of an elephant! By whom has your chest been wounded? Who is playing with an angry five-headed serpent?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे नागनासोरु (हाथी की सूंड के समान सुंदर जांघों वाली)! तुम्हारी छाती पर यह घाव किसने किया है? कौन उस कालसर्प से खेल रहा है जिसके पांच मुख हैं (अर्थात् कौन मृत्यु को निमंत्रण दे रहा है)?"
English Commentary
Rama's question is a declaration of terrifying wrath. 'Naganasoru' is a classical trope of beauty in Sanskrit literature (thighs tapering gracefully like an elephant's trunk), reflecting Rama's adoration even in this tense moment. Rama compares himself (or the danger the enemy is in) to a 'panchavaktrena bhogina' (five-headed serpent). This implies that whoever dared to touch Sita has played with certain death. This verse serves as Rama's vow of vengeance.

राम का यह प्रश्न उनके भयानक क्रोध की घोषणा है। 'नागनासोरु' संस्कृत साहित्य में सौंदर्य का एक क्लासिक वर्णन है (उरु अर्थात जांघें जो हाथी की सूंड-सी सुडौल हों), जो इस तनावपूर्ण क्षण में भी राम के प्रेम को दिखाता है। राम अपनी तुलना 'पञ्चवक्त्रेण भोगिना' (पांच मुख वाले सर्प) से करते हैं। इसका अर्थ है कि जिसने भी सीता को छूने का साहस किया है, उसने साक्षात मृत्यु से खिलवाड़ किया है। यह श्लोक राम के प्रतिशोध की प्रतिज्ञा है।
