वीक्षमाणस्ततस्तं वै वायसं समुदैक्षत ।
नखैः सरुधिरैस्तीक्ष्णैर्मामेवाभिमुखं स्थितम् ।
।
॥५-३८-२७॥
vīkṣamāṇastatastaṃ vai vāyasaṃ samudaikṣata । nakhaiḥ sarud hiraistīkṣṇairmāmevābhimukhaṃ sthitam । । ॥5-38-27॥
Translation
"Then, looking around, Rama spotted that crow. It was sitting right in front of me, its sharp claws stained with blood."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"तब इधर-उधर देखते हुए राम ने उस कौवे को देखा। वह तीखे और खून से सने हुए नाखूनों वाला कौआ मेरे ही सामने (निडर होकर) बैठा था।"
English Commentary
Rama scans the surroundings to identify the aggressor. The phrase 'vikshamanah' implies a deliberate search. The audacity of the crow is striking; instead of fleeing after the assault, it remained 'mamevabhimukham sthitam' (sitting right in front of me/Sita). Its claws were 'sarudhiraih' (blood-stained), serving as undeniable evidence of the crime. This visual of the bloody claws facing his beloved Sita provided immediate justification for Rama's impending retribution. It highlights the shamelessness of the aggressor.

राम की दृष्टि उस अपराधी पर पड़ती है। 'वीक्षमाणः' (ढूँढते/देखते हुए) दर्शाता है कि राम सतर्कता से अपराधी की खोज कर रहे थे। कौवे की धृष्टता देखिए—अपराध करने के बाद भी वह भागा नहीं, बल्कि 'मामेवाभिमुखं स्थितम्' (मेरे ही सामने बैठा था)। उसके नाखून 'सरुधिरैः' (खून से सने) थे, जो सीधे प्रमाण थे कि उसने सीता को घायल किया है। यह दृश्य राम के क्रोध को भड़काने के लिए पर्याप्त था। यह श्लोक अपराधी की निर्लज्जता और राम की तीक्ष्ण दृष्टि का वर्णन करता है।
