Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अनुसृप्तस्तदा काको जगाम विविधां गतिम् ।
लोककाम इमं लोकं सर्वं वै विचचार ह ।

॥५-३८-३२॥
anusṛptastadā kāko jagāma vividhāṃ gatim । lokakāma imaṃ lokaṃ sarvaṃ vai vicacāra ha । ॥5-38-32॥
Translation
"Being pursued, the crow then flew in various ways (patterns), and desiring to save his life (or seeking shelter in worlds), he traversed this entire universe."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"(ब्रह्मास्त्र द्वारा) पीछा किए जाने पर वह कौआ प्राण बचाने की इच्छा से ('लोककाम') अनेक प्रकार की गतियों से उड़ा और उसने संपूर्ण लोकों का भ्रमण कर डाला।"
English Commentary
Jayanta tried every evasive maneuver ('vividham gatim') and fled across dimensions. He traversed the entire universe ('sarvam vai vichachara') seeking sanctuary. He knocked on every door—from the heavens to the netherworlds. This verse depicts the desperation of a sinner trying to outrun the consequences of their actions. Despite his divine lineage and speed, he found that there is no corner of the cosmos safe from Rama's will.
हिंदी टीका
जयंत ने अपनी जान बचाने के लिए हर संभव प्रयास किया। 'विविधां गतिम्' का अर्थ है उसने उड़ने की सारी कलाएं (ऊपर, नीचे, तिरछा) अपना लीं। उसने तीनों लोकों (स्वर्ग, पृथ्वी, पाताल) का चक्कर लगाया। 'सर्वं वै विचचार' (सब जगह घूखा) बताता है कि वह हर उस दरवाजे पर गया जहाँ से उसे मदद मिल सकती थी। लेकिन राम के अस्त्र के भय से उसे कहीं भी सुरक्षा नहीं मिली। यह अहंकार की दौड़ है जो अंततः हार जाती है।
