Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न शर्म लब्ध्वा तमेव शरणं गतः ।
।
॥५-३८-३५॥
na śarma labdhvā tameva śaraṇaṃ gataḥ । । ॥5-38-35॥
Translation
"Not obtaining peace/shelter anywhere, he went to Him alone for refuge."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"(तीनों लोकों में) कहीं भी शांति (शर्म) न पाकर, वह उन्हीं (राम) की शरण में गया।"
English Commentary
(This line appears to be a fragment or reiteration of verse 33, but is treated here distinctly). 'Sharma' means peace, comfort, or shelter. The verse reiterates that in the entire cosmos, no force could offer comfort against Rama's will. It underscores the existential realization that there is no peace for a soul that opposes the Divine. One must ultimately return to the source. It emphasizes the totality of Rama's sovereignty.

(यह श्लोक मूलतः श्लोक 33 का ही एक भाग या पुनरावृत्ति प्रतीत होता है, परंतु इसे अलग से व्याख्यायित किया जा रहा है)। 'शर्म' का अर्थ है सुख, शांति या आश्रय। ब्रह्मांड में अनगिनत शक्तियां हैं, लेकिन राम के विरोध में कोई भी शक्ति 'शर्म' (शांति) नहीं दे सकती। यह पंक्ति उस विवशता और अंतिम सत्य को रेखांकित करती है कि ईश्वर से विमुख होकर जीव को कहीं चैन नहीं मिल सकता। लौटना वहीं पड़ता है।
