द्वितीयं कारणं यच्च ब्रवीषि विनयान्विते ।
रामादन्यस्य नार्हामि संस्पर्शमिति जानकि ।
।
॥५-३८-४॥
dvitīyaṃ kāraṇaṃ yacca bravīṣi vinayānvite । rāmādanyasya nārhāmi saṃsparśamiti jānaki । । ॥5-38-4॥
Translation
"O modest Janaki! And as for the second reason you spoke of—that 'I do not deserve to touch anyone other than Rama'—(that is indeed most appropriate)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे विनयशील जानकी! और जो दूसरा कारण आपने बताया है कि 'मैं राम के अतिरिक्त किसी अन्य पुरुष के स्पर्श के योग्य नहीं हूँ', (वह तो अत्यंत उचित है)।"
English Commentary
In this verse, Hanuman bows down to Sita's adherence to the vow of Pativrata (fidelity to one's husband). Sita had cited a major moral reason for not going with Hanuman: she could not voluntarily touch any male other than Rama (her abduction by Ravana was an act of force, not will). Addressing her as 'Vinayanvite' (endowed with modesty), Hanuman validates that this decision is perfectly in line with her noble lineage and character. This verse highlights that even in the midst of extreme distress and peril, Sita remains steadfast in her Dharma and boundaries, prioritizing her moral code over immediate rescue.
हिंदी टीका
इस श्लोक में हनुमान जी सीता जी के पातिव्रत्य धर्म के प्रति नतमस्तक होते हैं। सीता जी ने हनुमान के साथ न जाने का एक प्रमुख नैतिक कारण यह दिया था कि वे स्वेच्छा से राम के अलावा किसी परपुरुष का स्पर्श नहीं कर सकतीं (रावण द्वारा अपहरण एक विवशता थी, स्वेच्छा नहीं)। हनुमान जी उन्हें 'विनयान्विते' (विनय से पूर्ण) कह कर संबोधित करते हैं। वे यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि सीता जी का यह निर्णय उनके उच्च कुल और चरित्र के अनुरूप है। यह श्लोक दर्शाता है कि संकट के समय भी सीता जी अपने धर्म और मर्यादा से डिगी नहीं हैं।
