एवमस्त्रविदां श्रेष्ठः सत्यवान् बलवानपि ।
किमर्थमस्त्रं रक्षस्सु न योजयति राघवः ।

evam astravidāṃ śreṣṭhaḥ satyavān balavānapi । kimartham astaṃ rakṣassu na yojayati rāghavaḥ । । ॥5-38-43॥
Translation
Being thus the best among knowers of weapons, truthful, and strong, for what reason does Raghava not employ his weapons against the Rakshasas?

इस प्रकार अस्त्र-वेत्ताओं में श्रेष्ठ, सत्यवान और बलवान होते हुए भी, राघव (राम) राक्षसों पर अपने अस्त्रों का प्रयोग किस कारण से नहीं कर रहे हैं?
English Commentary
After establishing Rama's prowess, Sita poses the direct question: "For what reason?" She lists three critical attributes: technical skill (best among weapon-knowers), moral integrity (truthful), and physical capacity (strong). Logically, the combination of these traits should result in the destruction of the Rakshasas. The disconnection between Rama's potential and the current reality is the source of her confusion. She asks why he does not "yoke" (yojayati) or deploy his weapons. It suggests she believes that a mere decision from him represents the difference between her captivity and liberation.

प्रशंसा के बाद, सीता पुनः अपने मूल प्रश्न पर आती हैं—'किमर्थम्' (किस कारण से?)। राम 'अस्त्रविदां श्रेष्ठः' हैं, अर्थात उन्हें दिव्यास्त्रों का ज्ञान है। वे 'सत्यवान' हैं, अर्थात अपनी पत्नी की रक्षा का वचन निभाने वाले हैं। फिर भी, परिणाम शून्य है। सीता यहाँ हनुमान से उत्तर की अपेक्षा नहीं कर रही हैं, बल्कि अपनी हताशा व्यक्त कर रही हैं। यह प्रश्न उस रहस्य को जानने की तीव्र इच्छा है कि आखिर वह कौन सी बाधा है जो राम के बाणों को लंका तक पहुँचने से रोक रही है।
