यदि तौ पुरुषव्याघ्रौ वाय्वग्निसमतेजसौ ।
सुराणामपि दुर्धर्षौ किमर्थं मामुपेक्षतः ।
।

yadi tau puruṣavyāghrau vāyvagnisamatejasau । surāṇāmapi durdharṣau kimarthaṃ māmupekṣataḥ । । ॥5-38-47॥
Translation
If those two tigers among men, equal in splendor to Vayu (Wind) and Agni (Fire), and unassailable even by the gods, why do they neglect me?
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि वे दोनों पुरुष-व्याघ्र (राम और लक्ष्मण) वायु और अग्नि के समान तेजस्वी हैं और देवताओं के लिए भी दुर्धर्ष (जिसे हराया न जा सके) हैं, तो वे मेरी उपेक्षा क्यों कर रहे हैं?
English Commentary
Sita compares the brothers to elemental forces, Vayu (Wind) and Agni (Fire), symbolizing unstoppable energy and destructive power. She calls them Puruṣavyāghrau (tigers among men) and Durdharṣau (unassailable/invincible). Given this overwhelming power, she concludes with the stinging word upekṣataḥ—they "neglect" or "disregard" her. This is the crux of her pain: power exists, but it is not being exercised in her favor. To a captive, unexplained delay looks indistinguishable from neglect. It reflects the psychological torment of feeling forgotten by those capable of saving you.

सीता की व्यथा अब शिकायत का रूप ले रही है। वे 'उपेक्षतः' (उपेक्षा करना/अनदेखा करना) शब्द का प्रयोग करती हैं जो बहुत भारी शब्द है। वे राम और लक्ष्मण की तुलना वायु और अग्नि से करती हैं—तत्व जो किसी से नहीं रुकते और सब कुछ भस्म कर सकते हैं। वे देवताओं के लिए भी अजेय हैं। ऐसी शक्ति होने के बावजूद, उनका न आना सीता को 'उपेक्षा' जैसा प्रतीत होता है। यह श्लोक दर्शाता है कि सामर्थ्य होते हुए भी सहायता न करना, पीड़ित व्यक्ति को तिरस्कार जैसा लगता है।
