Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वैदह्या वचनं श्रत्वा करुणं साश्रुभाषितम् ।
अथाब्रवीन्महातेजा हनूमान् मारुतात्मजः ।

vaidahyā vacanaṃ śrutvā karuṇaṃ sāśrubhāṣitam । athābravīnmahātejā hanūmān mārutātmajaḥ । । ॥5-38-49॥
Translation
Hearing the sorrowful words of Vaidehi spoken with tears, the great radiant Hanuman, son of the wind, spoke thus.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वैदेही (सीता) के करुण और आंसुओं से भरे वचनों को सुनकर, महातेजस्वी वायुपुत्र हनुमान ने इस प्रकार कहा।
English Commentary
This narrative verse acts as a bridge between Sita's lamentation and Hanuman's response. It characterizes Sita's speech as karuṇaṃ (pathetic/sorrowful) and sāśrubhāṣitam (spoken with tears), emphasizing the emotional weight of her monologue. In contrast, Hanuman is described as Mahātejā (of great radiance/splendor) and Mārutātmajaḥ (son of the wind). The juxtaposition suggests that Hanuman’s radiance and vitality are about to intercede in Sita’s tearful despair. He has listened patiently and is now prepared to offer the solace she desperately needs.

यह श्लोक प्रसंग को बदलता है। सीता का विलाप समाप्त होता है और हनुमान की प्रतिक्रिया आरंभ होती है। वाल्मीकि जी सीता के वचनों को 'साश्रुभाषितम्' (आंसुओं के साथ बोले गए) कहते हैं, जो उनकी गहन वेदना को दर्शाता है। दूसरी ओर हनुमान को 'महातेजा' कहा गया है, जो यह संकेत देता है कि वे सीता के अंधकारमय शोक को अपने तेज (और समाचार) से दूर करने वाले हैं। हनुमान एक श्रोता के रूप में सीता के दुःख की गहराई को माप चुके हैं और अब वे उसे दूर करने का प्रयास करेंगे।
