हत्वा च समरे क्रूरं रावणं सहबान्धवम् ।
राघवस्त्वां विशालाक्षि नेष्यति स्वां पुरीं प्रति ।
ब्रूहि यद्राघवो वाच्यो लक्ष्मणश्च महाबलः ।

hatvā ca samare krūraṃ rāvaṇaṃ sahabāndhavam । rāghavas tvāṃ viśālākṣi neṣyati svāṃ purīṃ prati । brūhi yad rāghavo vācyo lakṣmaṇaśca mahābalaḥ । । ॥5-38-54॥
Translation
And having killed the cruel Ravana along with his kinsmen in battle, Raghava will take you, O large-eyed one, back to his own city. Tell me what is to be said to Raghava and the mighty Lakshmana.

English Commentary
Hanuman outlines the sequence of events: the execution of the cruel Ravana (krūraṃ) and his kin, followed by Sita's repatriation to Ayodhya. By addressing her as Viśālākṣi (large-eyed), he uses a traditional endearment to comfort her. Crucially, he transitions to his role as a messenger, asking for specific verbal messages (vācyo) for both Rama and Lakshmana. This request empowers Sita, giving her a voice that will travel across the ocean to spur her husband into action.
