कौसल्या लोकभर्तारं सुषुवे यं मनस्विनी ।
तं ममार्थे सुखं पृच्छ शिरसा चाभिवादय ।

kausalyā lokabhartāraṃ suṣuve yaṃ manasvinī । taṃ mamārthe sukhaṃ pṛccha śirasā cābhivādaya । । ॥5-38-56॥
Translation
Ask about the welfare of him (Rama), the sustainer of the world, whom the wise Kausalya gave birth to, on my behalf, and bow to him with your head.

मनस्विनी (बुद्धिमती/उदार) कौसल्या ने जिन लोक-भर्ता (संसार के रक्षक राम) को जन्म दिया है, मेरी ओर से उनकी कुशलता पूछना और (मेरे लिए) सिर झुकाकर उन्हें प्रणाम करना।
English Commentary
Sita begins her message with the highest protocol, referencing Rama through his mother, the wise (Manasvinī) Kausalya. By calling Rama Lokabhartāraṃ (sustainer of the world), she acknowledges his universal responsibility, perhaps gently reminding him that she is part of that world he sustains. Her first priority is his welfare (sukham), showing that despite her suffering, her husband's well-being remains paramount. She instructs Hanuman to offer a physical gesture of reverence on her behalf.

सीता अपने सन्देश का आरंभ राम की कुशलता पूछकर करती हैं। वे राम का नाम सीधे न लेकर उन्हें 'कौसल्या पुत्र' और 'लोकभर्ता' के रूप में याद करती हैं। 'लोकभर्ता' (संसार का भरण-पोषण करने वाला) शब्द का प्रयोग व्यंग्यात्मक भी हो सकता है और श्रद्धापूर्ण भी—जो सबका रक्षक है, वह अपनी पत्नी की रक्षा कब करेगा? वे हनुमान को निर्देश देती हैं कि वे राम को उनकी ओर से 'शिरसा' (सिर से) प्रणाम करें, जो पूर्ण समर्पण और सम्मान का प्रतीक है।
