संहस्कन्धो महाबाहुर्मनस्वी प्रियदर्शनः ।
पितृवद्वर्तते रामे मातृवन्मां समाचरन् ।
।

saṃhaskandho mahābāhurmanasvī priyadarśanaḥ । pitṛvadvartate rāme mātṛvanmāṃ samācaran । । ॥5-38-60॥
Translation
He is broad-shouldered, long-armed, wise, and pleasant to look at. He behaves towards Rama as (one would to) a father, and acts towards me as (one would to) a mother.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे मजबूत कंधों वाले, विशाल भुजाओं वाले, मनस्वी और देखने में प्रिय हैं। वे राम को पिता के समान मानते हैं और मेरे प्रति माता जैसा व्यवहार करते हैं।
English Commentary
This is a pivotal verse in understanding the Sita-Lakshmana dynamic. After describing his warrior physique, Sita defines his emotional orientation: he treats Rama with the reverence due to a father and Sita with the reverence due to a mother (mātṛvat). This statement is Sita's definitive absolution of Lakshmana. By asserting that he sees her as a mother, she nullifies any lingering bitterness from the harsh words she spoke before her abduction. She wants Rama to know that Lakshmana is the epitome of appropriate conduct.
