Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मम प्रियतरो नित्यं भ्राता रामस्य लक्ष्मणः ।
नियुक्तो धुरि यस्यां तु तामुद्वहति वीर्यवान् ।
।

mama priyataro nityaṃ bhrātā rāmasya lakṣmaṇaḥ । niyukto dhuri yasyāṃ tu tām udvahati vīryavān । । ॥5-38-63॥
Translation
Lakshmana, the brother of Rama, is always dearer to me (than my own life). That valiant one carries out whatever burden of responsibility he is entrusted with.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राम के भाई लक्ष्मण मुझे नित्य ही (प्राणों से भी अधिक) प्रिय हैं। वह वीर्यवान (लक्ष्मण) जिस भी कार्यभार (धुरि) में नियुक्त किए जाते हैं, उसे (सफलतापूर्वक) वहन करते हैं।
English Commentary
Sita expresses the depth of her affection for Lakshmana, stating he is "dearer" (priyataro) to her, implying a bond perhaps even surpassing ordinary familial ties due to their shared hardships. She highlights his reliability using the metaphor of carrying a "yoke" (dhuri). Whatever task is assigned to him, he executes it with valor. This serves to reassure Rama that the bond between his wife and his brother remains unbroken despite the harsh words spoken before the abduction.

सीता यहाँ लक्ष्मण के प्रति अपने स्नेह की पराकाष्ठा व्यक्त करती हैं। 'मम प्रियतरो' (मुझे अति प्रिय) कहकर वे स्पष्ट करती हैं कि वनवास के दौरान लक्ष्मण की सेवा ने उन्हें सीता के हृदय में एक विशेष स्थान दिला दिया है। वे लक्ष्मण को 'वीर्यवान' और कर्तव्यनिष्ठ बताती हैं। 'धुरि' का अर्थ है जुआ (yoke) या भार; लक्ष्मण हर जिम्मेदारी को बिना शिकायत निभाते हैं। यह श्लोक यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए है कि राम यह न सोचें कि सीता लक्ष्मण से अभी भी नाराज हैं।
