Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रतिगृह्य ततो वीरो मणिरत्नमनुत्तमम् ।
अङ्गुल्या योजयामास न ह्यस्य प्राभवद्भुजः ।
।। ॥५-३८-७०॥
pratigṛhya tato vīro maṇiratnam anuttamam । aṅgulyā yojayāmāsa na hyasya prabhavad bhujaḥ । । ॥5-38-70॥
Translation
Then, receiving that unsurpassed jewel, the hero fitted it onto his finger, for his arm was not suitable (too small in his current form to wear it as an armlet, or the jewel was too large for his finger so he held it).
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उस वीर (हनुमान) ने उस सर्वोत्तम मणिरत्न को लेकर अपनी अंगुली में पहन लिया (या फंसा लिया), क्योंकि (उनके वर्तमान सूक्ष्म रूप के कारण) उनकी भुजा इसमें समर्थ नहीं थी (अर्थात यह उनकी भुजा के लिए बहुत बड़ा था या भुजा में पहनने योग्य नहीं था)।
English Commentary
This verse captures a detail of physical scale. Hanuman is currently in his diminutive form to remain undetected. The Chudamani is a headpiece meant for a human. When he receives it, he cannot wear it as intended. The text says he fitted it to his finger (angulyā yojayāmāsa), perhaps wearing the large head-jewel like a ring or simply securing it with his fingers, as his tiny arm (bhuja) in this form couldn't accommodate it properly. It highlights the reality of his disguise.

यहाँ एक व्यावहारिक समस्या का वर्णन है। हनुमान इस समय सूक्ष्म (बिल्ली के आकार के) रूप में हैं। चूडामणि एक सिर का आभूषण है। हनुमान ने उसे सुरक्षित रखने के लिए अंगूठी की तरह अंगुली में फंसा लिया। 'न ह्यस्य प्राभवद्भुजः' का अर्थ है कि उनकी भुजा उस मणि को धारण करने के लिए (उस रूप में) उपयुक्त नहीं थी, इसलिए उन्होंने उसे हाथ/अंगुली में ही स्थान दिया। यह हनुमान की विनम्रता और स्थिति के प्रति अनुकूलन को दर्शाता है।
