लङ्काया दुष्प्रवेशत्वाद् दुस्तरत्वान्महोदधेः ।
सामर्थ्यादात्मनश्चैव मयैतत् समुदीरितम् ।

laṅkāyā duṣpraveśatvād dustaratvānmahodadheḥ । sāmarthyādātmanaścaiva mayaitat samudīritam । । ॥5-38-8॥
Translation
"Because Lanka is difficult to enter and the great ocean is difficult to cross, and knowing my own capacity, I had spoken this."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"लंका में प्रवेश करना अत्यंत कठिन है और महासागर को पार करना भी दुस्तर है, (इन कठिनाइयों को देख) और अपने सामर्थ्य को जानते हुए, मैंने यह बात कही थी।"
English Commentary
Hanuman explains the logistical rationale behind his offer. He is aware that for the Vanara army to cross the ocean and breach the fortress of Lanka is a monumental challenge that will take time and cost lives. Confident in his own strength ('atmanah samarthyat'), he reasoned that rescuing Sita immediately would preempt the need for a massive war. This was a strategic calculation, not just impulsive enthusiasm. He wants Sita to understand that his proposal was a well-intentioned attempt to bypass the immense hurdles of the impending conflict.

हनुमान जी व्यावहारिक कारणों (Logistics) की व्याख्या करते हैं। वे जानते हैं कि वानर सेना के लिए समुद्र पार करना और लंका के किले को भेदना एक विशाल चुनौती होगी, जिसमें बहुत समय और प्राणों की हानि हो सकती है। अपनी शक्ति ('आत्मनः सामर्थ्यात्') पर विश्वास होने के कारण, उन्हें लगा कि यदि वे सीता जी को अभी ले जाएं, तो युद्ध की आवश्यकता ही नहीं पड़ेगी। यह उनकी रणनीतिक सोच थी, न कि केवल उत्साह। वे सीता जी को यह समझाना चाहते हैं कि उनका प्रस्ताव एक सोचा-समझा शॉर्टकट (लघु मार्ग) था।
