मणिं दत्त्वा ततः सीता हनुमन्तमथाब्रवीति ।
अभिज्ञानमभिज्ञातमेतद्रामस्य तत्त्वतः ।
।
॥५-३९-१॥
maṇiṃ dattvā tataḥ sītā hanumantam athābravīt । abhijñānam abhijñātam etad rāmasya tattvataḥ । ॥5-39-1॥
Translation
Having given the jewel, Sita then spoke to Hanuman: "This token of recognition is known to Rama in reality (thoroughly known)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
मणि देने के बाद, सीता ने हनुमान से कहा—"यह अभिज्ञान (पहचान का चिन्ह) राम को भली-भांति (तत्त्वतः) ज्ञात है।"
English Commentary
Sarga 39 opens with Sita explicitly validating the Abhijnana (token). She emphasizes that Rama knows this jewel tattvataḥ (in its true nature/history). It implies there is a backstory to this jewel that only she and Rama share, making it the perfect cryptographic proof of her identity and Hanuman's successful contact. She prepares to narrate the story behind the jewel (which follows in the next verses).

सर्ग 39 का आरंभ सीता द्वारा मणि के महत्व को समझाने से होता है। वे सुनिश्चित करना चाहती हैं कि हनुमान समझें कि यह कोई साधारण गहना नहीं है। राम इसे 'तत्त्वतः' (वास्तविकता में/गहराई से) पहचानते हैं क्योंकि इसके साथ उनकी पुरानी स्मृतियाँ जुड़ी हैं। यह केवल आभूषण नहीं, बल्कि एक साझा इतिहास का प्रमाण है।
