तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा सम्यक् सत्यं सुभाषितम् ।
जानकी बहुमेने ऽथ वचनं चेदमब्रवीत् ।

tasya tadvacanaṃ śrutvā samyak satyaṃ subhāṣitam |
jānakī bahumene 'tha vacanaṃ cedamabravīt ॥5-39-18॥
Translation
Hearing those appropriate, truthful, and well-spoken words of his, Janaki honored him highly and then spoke these words.

हनुमान के उस यथार्थ, सत्य और मधुर (सुभाषित) वचन को सुनकर जानकी ने उनका बहुत सम्मान किया और फिर यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
This verse characterizes the quality of Hanuman's diplomacy. Sita finds his speech "samyak" (proper/fitting the occasion), "satyam" (truthful/realistic), and "subhashitam" (eloquent/comforting). This triple validation shows that trust has been fully established. "Bahumene" (regarded highly) indicates a shift in Sita's perception—Hanuman is no longer a stranger but a trusted ally. This sets the stage for her to express her deeper, more vulnerable fears in the following verses.

सीता जी हनुमान के वचनों को तीन विशेषण देती हैं: 'सम्यक्' (उचित/तर्कसंगत), 'सत्यं' (सच्चाई से भरा) और 'सुभाषितम्' (मधुरता से कहा गया)। हनुमान ने न केवल सत्य कहा, बल्कि उसे ऐसे ढंग से कहा जिससे सीता को सांत्वना मिली। 'बहुमेने' का अर्थ है कि सीता ने मन ही मन हनुमान के प्रति कृतज्ञता और आदर का भाव महसूस किया। अब वे अपनी अगली चिंता व्यक्त करने के लिए तैयार हैं।
