गते हि हरिशार्दूल पुनरागमनाय तु ।
प्राणानामपि सन्देहो मम स्यान्नात्र संशयः ।

gate hi hariśārdūla punarāgamanāya tu |
prāṇānāmapi sandeho mama syānnātra saṃśayaḥ ॥5-39-22॥
Translation
O tiger among monkeys! Once you are gone, there is indeed a doubt whether my life will last until your return; of this there is no uncertainty.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानरव्याघ्र! तुम्हारे चले जाने पर, तुम्हारे लौटने तक मेरे प्राण रहेंगे या नहीं, इसमें संदेह है; इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है।
English Commentary
The fear of the interim period grips Sita. Addressing Hanuman as "Harishardula" (tiger among monkeys), she voices her existential anxiety. She fears that the interval between his departure ("gate") and the army's arrival ("punaragamanaya") might be too long for her to survive. The phrase "na atra samshayah" (there is no doubt about this) emphasizes the certainty of her fragility. She is hanging by a thread, and Hanuman is that thread.

सीता पुनः निराशा के गर्त में डूब रही हैं। हनुमान के जाने के बाद और राम के आने के बीच का समय (अंतराल) उनके लिए सबसे कठिन होगा। 'प्राणानामपि सन्देह' (प्राणों का भी संदेह) यह दर्शाता है कि उनकी सहनशक्ति अब जवाब दे रही है। वे हनुमान को 'हरिशार्दूल' (वानरों में शेर) कहती हैं, लेकिन अपनी स्थिति को लेकर वे अत्यंत संशयग्रस्त हैं।
