त्रयाणामेव भूतानां सागरस्यास्य लङ्घने ।
शक्तिः स्याद्वैनतेयस्य तव वा मारुतस्य वा ।

śaktiḥ syādvainateyasya tava vā mārutasya vā ॥5-39-26॥
Translation
The power to cross this ocean resides in only three beings: Vainateya (Garuda), you, or the Wind God (Maruta).

इस महासागर को लांघने की शक्ति केवल तीन ही प्राणियों में हो सकती है—गरुड़ (वैनतेय) में, तुममें अथवा वायुदेव में।
English Commentary
Sita substantiates her doubt regarding the logistics of the rescue. She identifies an elite class of beings capable of crossing the 100-yojana ocean: Garuda (the divine eagle), the Wind God (Vayu), and Hanuman himself. By listing Hanuman alongside these elemental forces, she honors his prowess. However, this exclusivity creates a strategic problem: if only these three possess the requisite power, how can a terrestrial army of monkeys and bears possibly arrive in Lanka to wage war?

सीता जी यहाँ अपनी शंका का तार्किक आधार प्रस्तुत कर रही हैं। सौ योजन का समुद्र लांघना कोई सामान्य कार्य नहीं है। वे केवल उन तीन शक्तियों को जानती हैं जो आकाश मार्ग से अबाध गति से विचरण कर सकते हैं: भगवान विष्णु के वाहन गरुड़, स्वयं हनुमान (जो उनके सामने हैं), और हनुमान के पिता वायुदेव। यह कथन हनुमान की शक्ति को मान्यता देता है, लेकिन साथ ही यह प्रश्न भी खड़ा करता है कि पूरी वानर सेना—जो इन तीनों की श्रेणी में नहीं आती—इस बाधा को कैसे पार करेगी।
