अहं तावदिह प्राप्तः किं पुनस्ते महाबलाः ।
नहि प्रकृष्टाः प्रेष्यन्ते प्रेष्यन्ते हीतरे जनाः ।
।
॥५-३९-३९॥
Ahaṃ tāvadiha prāptaḥ kiṃ punaste mahābalāḥ । Nahi prakṛṣṭāḥ preṣyante preṣyante hītare janāḥ । । ॥5-39-39॥
Translation
If I have reached here, what doubt is there regarding those mighty ones? Indeed, the superior ones are not sent on errands; only the others (ordinary ones) are sent.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब मैं ही यहाँ पहुँच गया हूँ, तो उन महाबलियों के आने में क्या संशय है? (संसार में) जो सर्वश्रेष्ठ होते हैं उन्हें (दूत कार्य के लिए) नहीं भेजा जाता, अपितु औरों (साधारण जनों) को ही भेजा जाता है।
English Commentary
Here, Hanuman uses a logical maxim commonly understood in statecraft: kings do not risk their most powerful generals for scouting or messenger duties; such tasks are assigned to ordinary ranks. By categorizing himself as "ordinary," he implies that an overwhelming force, far greater than what Sita sees in him, is waiting to strike. This is a masterclass in comforting a distressed soul—he minimizes his own achievement of crossing the ocean solely to magnify the capability of the rescue party that is to follow.

हनुमान जी यहाँ 'न्याय' (तर्क) का प्रयोग करते हुए कहते हैं कि राजा कभी भी अपने सबसे शक्तिशाली सेनापतियों को गुप्तचरी या दूत-कर्म के लिए नहीं भेजता; यह काम साधारण सैनिकों का होता है। वे सीता जी को आश्वस्त कर रहे हैं कि वे तो मात्र एक सेवक हैं, असली शक्ति तो सुग्रीव और अंगद जैसे योद्धाओं में है जो पीछे आ रहे हैं। यह वाक्य वाल्मीकि रामायण के सबसे प्रसिद्ध कूटनीतिक कथनों में से एक है, जहाँ हनुमान अपनी महानता को छिपाकर शत्रु के विनाश की निश्चितता का प्रमाण देते हैं।
