सुग्रीवं च सहामात्यं वृद्धान् सर्वांश्च वाररान् ।
ब्रूयास्त्वं वानरश्रेष्ठ कुशलं धर्मसंहितम् ।

sugrīvaṃ ca sahāmātyaṃ vṛddhān sarvāṃśca vārarān |
brūyāstvaṃ vānaraśreṣṭha kuśalaṃ dharmasaṃhitam ॥5-39-8॥
Translation
O best of monkeys! Ask about the welfare, consistent with dharma, of Sugriva along with his ministers, the elders, and all other monkeys.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानरश्रेष्ठ! आप मंत्रियों सहित सुग्रीव, वृद्ध वानरों और अन्य सभी वानरों से भी धर्मानुकूल कुशल-क्षेम पूछिएगा।
English Commentary
Sita demonstrates her nobility and understanding of protocol. She extends her greetings beyond her family to the political allies—Sugriva, his ministers, and even the elderly monkeys. The phrase "dharmasamhitam" (in accordance with dharma/righteousness) suggests a formal and respectful inquiry befitting her station and theirs. By acknowledging the entire army's welfare, she reinforces the alliance and expresses gratitude for their efforts.

सीता जी की विशाल हृदयता यहाँ प्रकट होती है। वे केवल अपने पति तक सीमित नहीं हैं, बल्कि राम की सहायता करने वाले राजा सुग्रीव, उनके मंत्रियों और यहाँ तक कि वृद्ध व सामान्य वानरों की भी चिंता करती हैं। 'धर्मसंहितम्' (धर्म से युक्त) का अर्थ है कि जिस प्रकार एक राजा या मित्र की पत्नी को सम्मानपूर्वक कुशल पूछना चाहिए, वैसा ही पूछें। यह कूटनीतिक रूप से भी आवश्यक है कि सहयोगियों को सम्मान मिले।
