अद्वारेण महातेजा हनुमान् कपिसत्तमः ।
प्रविश्य नगरीं लङ्कां कपिराजहितंकरः ॥ ॥५-४-२॥
Advāreṇa mahātejā hanumān kapisattamaḥ । Praviśya nagarīṃ laṅkāṃ kapirājahitaṃkaraḥ ॥ ॥5-4-2॥
Translation
The radiant Hanuman, the best of monkeys, who acts for the welfare of the King of Monkeys (Sugriva), entered the city of Lanka not through the gate (but by leaping over the wall/sky).
हिंदी अनुवाद
सुग्रीव (कपिराज) का हित करने वाले, महातेजस्वी वानर श्रेष्ठ हनुमान जी ने मुख्य द्वार से नहीं (अपितु प्राचीर के ऊपर से) लंका नगरी में प्रवेश किया।
English Commentary
Despite having permission, Hanuman enters advarena—not through the designated gate. Commentators suggest this signifies entering "irregularly" or leaping over the defensive wall (Prakara). Symbolically, stepping over the wall rather than walking through the gate represents a display of superiority and dominance over the enemy stronghold. It is also a strategic choice typical of a spy or warrior on a covert mission in enemy territory. The epithet Kapirajahitamkarah (doer of good for the King of Monkeys) reiterates his motivation: service to Sugriva (and by extension Rama), ensuring the reader knows his actions are bound by duty, not arrogance.

यद्यपि लंकिनी ने हनुमान जी को अनुमति दे दी थी, फिर भी हनुमान जी 'अद्वारेण' (बिना द्वार के/प्राचीर लांघकर) प्रवेश करते हैं। इसके पीछे गहरा रणनीतिक और शास्त्र सम्मत अर्थ है। शास्त्रानुसार, शत्रु के घर में मुख्य द्वार से प्रवेश नहीं करना चाहिए, विशेषकर रात्रि में या गुप्त कार्य के लिए। साथ ही, 'अद्वारेण' प्रवेश करना शत्रु के सिर पर पैर रखने के समान है, जो अपमान और विजय का सूचक है। हनुमान जी को 'कपिराजहितंकरः' कहा गया है, जो याद दिलाता है कि यह कार्य व्यक्तिगत यश के लिए नहीं, बल्कि अपने स्वामी सुग्रीव और राम के कार्य की सिद्धि के लिए किया जा रहा है। यह उनकी कर्तव्यनिष्ठा को दर्शाता है।
