स तदा तद्गृहम् दृष्ट्वा महाहाटकतोरणम् ।
राक्षसेन्द्रस्य विख्यातमद्रिमूर्ध्नि प्रतिष्ठितम् ॥५-४-२४॥
sa tadā tadgṛham dṛṣṭvā mahāhāṭakatoraṇam |
rākṣasendrasya vikhyātamadrimūrdhni pratiṣṭhitam ॥5-4-24॥
Translation
Then he (Hanuman) gazed upon that famous mansion of the King of Rakshasas, established on the summit of the mountain, possessing magnificent golden archways.

तब उस (हनुमान) ने पर्वत के शिखर पर स्थित, महान सुवर्णमय तोरणों वाले, राक्षसेन्द्र (रावण) के उस विख्यात भवन को देखा।
English Commentary
The narrative focus shifts from the guards to the architectural grandeur of the destination. Ravana’s palace is situated on the 'summit of the mountain' (Trikuta), giving it a commanding and strategically defensible position. The 'magnificent golden archways' (Mahāhāṭakatoraṇam) serve as a testament to the boundless wealth of Lanka, likely amassed through Ravana’s conquests across the three worlds. The palace is described as 'vikhyātam' (famous), implying its splendor was legendary. For Hanuman, seeing this structure is not just witnessing wealth, but understanding the physical manifestation of Ravana's ego and dominance. The placement on the peak symbolizes Ravana’s aspiration to rival the abodes of the gods in height and glory.

अब वर्णन सैनिकों से हटकर वास्तुकला की ओर मुड़ता है। रावण का भवन 'त्रिकूट' पर्वत के शिखर ('अद्रिमूर्ध्नि') पर स्थित था, जो उसकी सामरिक स्थिति को अभेद्य बनाता था। 'महाहाटकतोरणम्' (विशाल सोने के तोरण/द्वार) लंका की असीमित समृद्धि का परिचायक है। यह भवन 'विख्यात' है, अर्थात इसकी भव्यता की चर्चा तीनों लोकों में थी। हनुमान जी, जो राम के दूत हैं, इस वैभव को देख रहे हैं। यह केवल एक घर नहीं, बल्कि रावण के अहंकार और शक्ति का भौतिक स्वरूप है। ऊँचाई पर स्थित होना यह भी दर्शाता है कि रावण स्वयं को देवताओं के समान या उनसे ऊपर मानता था। हनुमान जी का इसे देखना उनके लक्ष्य के करीब पहुँचने का संकेत है।
