सहेमजाम्बूनदचक्रवाLअम् ।
महार्ह मुक्तामणिभूषितान्तम् ।
परार्थ्यकालागुरुचन्दनाक्तं ।
स रावणान्तःपुरमाविवेश ॥५-४-२९॥
sa hema jāmbūnada cakra vālam |
mahārha muktā maṇi bhūṣitāntam |
parārthya kālāguru candanāktam |
sa rāvaṇāntaḥpuram āviveśa ॥5-4-29॥
Translation
He (Hanuman) entered Ravana's inner apartments, which were encircled with gold and Jambunada (river-gold), adorned with precious pearls and gems, and scented with excellent black aloe and sandalwood.

उन्होंने (हनुमान ने) रावण के उस अंतःपुर में प्रवेश किया जो सुवर्ण (हेम) और जाम्बूनद (विशिष्ट सोना) के समूहों से युक्त था, बहुमूल्य मोतियों और मणियों से विभूषित था, और श्रेष्ठ कालागुरु तथा चंदन की सुगंध से लिप्त था।
English Commentary
The Sarga concludes with a sensory overload describing the interior of Ravana's Antahpura. Valmiki distinguishes between types of gold ('hema' and 'jāmbūnada'), indicating distinct varieties of purity and origin, alongside pearls and gems. The olfactory detail—scented with 'kālāguru' (black aloe) and sandalwood—creates an atmosphere of heavy, opulent luxury intended for pleasure. This sets the stage for what Hanuman will witness next: the harem. It places Hanuman, the celibate ascetic warrior (Brahmachari), directly into the epicenter of desire and materialism. The verse emphasizes that he has successfully breached the physical defenses and is now surrounded by the sensory temptations of the Demon King's private world.

इस सर्ग का समापन हनुमान जी के रावण के निजी कक्षों (अंतःपुर) में प्रवेश के साथ होता है। यहाँ 'हेम' और 'जाम्बूनद' जैसे शब्दों का प्रयोग सोने की विभिन्न और श्रेष्ठ कोटियों को बताने के लिए किया गया है। मोतियों और मणियों की सजावट तथा 'कालागुरु' और 'चंदन' की सुगंध—यह सभी इन्द्रियां (दृष्टि और घ्राण) को तृप्त करने वाले भोग-विलास का वर्णन है। यह स्थान रावण के नितांत निजी जीवन, उसकी रानियों और उसके विश्राम का स्थान है। हनुमान जी, जो एक ब्रह्मचारी और संयमी हैं, अब एक ऐसे स्थान पर हैं जो काम और भोग का केंद्र है। यह कंट्रास्ट (विरोध) आगामी सर्गो में उनके चरित्र की दृढ़ता की परीक्षा लेगा।
